Dr. M. Segad is a serial sciencepreneur, founder, chair, CEO and CSO of pioneering NatureTech and AgTech organizations dedicated to revolutionizing green initiatives, combat water scarcity, desert farming, forestry, and carbon sectors, coupled with innovative emerging technologies and AI/ML. Leveraging his cross-disciplinary science-backed discoveries and entrepreneurial vision, he has developed cost-effective and scalable natural, novel and nano/bio-based solutions, delivering tangible positive impact in AgriFood, reverse desertification, water conservation, tree planting, and land/forest restoration at scale. He has studied and worked at top-ranked universities, governmental/DOE facilities, corporations and startups in several countries on more than one continent, as he holds an MSc and a PhD degree. He was invited to join Stanford University, and for years he served at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, UCB, Penn State, in the United States, TU Berlin, Germany, and also at Lund and Stockholm Universities, Sweden. He has been a keynote speaker, invited to speak at several conferences and summits. He is also a recipient of awards including the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation and MAX IV Prizes, along with other awards in the US and Europe.
For two years, he has served as chair at Stockholm University, and then, as chair of the national faculty of Sweden, and on the board of an AI-based company. He has published a large number of peer-reviewed papers in high-profile journals, as well as public articles. His valuable contributions and support have been acknowledged in Nature among other journals, and he has been assigned as a reviewer for high-profile journals. He also served as a jury member, manager, and advisor for the European Innovation Council/European Commission. Experienced in managing/networking, he chaired and organized some international conferences in the US and Sweden with leading figures in industry, science and government including the President of the European Research Council. In his leadership and advisory roles, he served companies and evaluated global projects from 30 countries across various sectors directly related to SDGs. He also actively contributed to the Global 50 Climate Projects for the Dubai Future Foundation and played a key role in identifying and developing the climate action theme for Saudi Arabia's bid to host World EXPO, and Riyadh successfully selected for EXPO2030. Additionally, he contributed to other global projects, such as the Environmental Sustainability Index and the Climate Adaptation Plan in the MENA region and Africa.
Throughout his career, he has held various academic and industry leadership roles across the globe, such as chair, founder, and chief scientific officer, among others. Additionally, he is deeply involved in coaching and mentoring startups, companies, and clients to navigate the market and advance businesses from startup to scale-up. Over several years, leveraging his background in nanotechnology, biogeoscience, and AI/ML, he has developed a range of natural, novel, and nano-based (3N) Ag-products, including Liquid Clays and unique custom-made formulations of Ag-solutions. He has earned a reputation as one of the top AgriFood pioneers, specializing in NatureTech and NanoTech for agriculture, water, fertilizers, carbon markets, and the food/energy sectors. The 3N product family aims to improve soil health, combat desertification, address water scarcity, and mitigate salinization to counter global climate threats. Additionally, he serves as an advisor for the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) and as an Editor at Frontiers.
